Say it isn’t so…how did December sneak up so fast. Everyone is running around getting ready for the holidays. While it is a joyous time, it can also be stressful, so it’s important for you to follow these simple guidelines that will help you keep up your stamina and get through the preparations, so you can enjoy the holiday when it finally arrives.

Rule 1: Don’t fall into the fast food trap. I always carry a small bag of nuts and dried fruits in my car, handbag, and at the office. Eat foods that are full of protein and give you lots of energy. When giving in to fast food, watch the soda, sodium and fat intake as these create bloating and deplete your energy. Eating properly helps your body deal with stress. Today’s mall food courts do have some healthy options which allow you to keep up your energy.

Rule 2: Make time to sit down and enjoy your meal.Taking 20-30 minutes to slow down relieves stress and anxiety. You can also use this mini-break to check your list. To have an even more relaxing meal, eat before the dinner rush and then shop, while the majority of the crowd is eating.

Rule 3: Cut down on the caffeine. If you simply can’t live without your coffee try a mixture of half regular and half decaf; it won’t make you as jittery.

A great alternative to avoid the shopping madness is purchasing a strEATs of Philly Food Tour gift certificate for everyone on your list. This way you can spend more time with your family at home cooking recipes from our website. Our food tours make wonderful presents and are great for the whole family, corporate outings, and team building experiences. Why? Everyone loves to eat.  Give experiences not gifts!
