Michelin Launches First-Ever Philadelphia Guide

Guess Who Made It Inside?

The esteemed Michelin partnered with the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) published its very first Philadelphia destination guide, highlighting the city’s top leisure travel experiences. The Michelin Green Guide Short Stays Philadelphia includes unmissable attractions, restaurants, hotels, and experiences in Philadelphia and its Countryside.

Maybe you’re familiar with Michelin, which develops a series of guidebooks that have been published by the French tire company since 1900. Our area is officially the 8th destination in the United States to be featured in the Michelin Green Guide. Chosen due to our chef-driven culture, incredible food, diversity, and the walkability of the city as well.

The prestigious Michelin Guide calls Philadelphia the “Frenchest American city,” not to mention all the appeal of a city packed with art, history, and a cultural effervescence few people expect.” Well-deserved for our area to be recognized with growing prominence as a global destination.

I attended the launch party for the guide that happened on Thursday, May 18th at the Moshulu (btw – also featured in the guide!). Philippe Orain, the editor-in-chief of the Michelin Green Guide mentioned, “Philadelphia is a condensed version of today’s America: a historic city turned towards the future. It will entice you thanks to its old neighborhoods rich with incredible restaurants, its museums of unbelievable culture and its glittering skyscrapers,” said Orain. “It is worth the travel and becomes an essential gateway for a trip to the East Coast.”

The Green Guide awards stars to aspects of the tourism experience such as the destination itself, the neighborhoods, and museums/attractions. Restaurants are given hearts instead of stars which identify the editor’s favorites.

This Philadelphia edition features what it deems to be can’t-miss destinations around the city and region. Think tourist sites, cultural institutions, activities, parks, restaurants, and hotels, and our frequently visited friends such as South Philly Barbacoa and the lovely Cristina Martinez featured on our Chef-Led South Philly Brunch Tour.

Orain announced the recipients and mentioned StrEATS of Philly Food Tours for the unforgettable experiences curated in the City of Brotherly Love. The Guide can be purchased at Barnes and Noble for $12.99.  I’m still pinching myself!
